The Lodge at St. Edward Park

Location: Kenmore, WA

The renovation of Saint Edward Seminary at Saint Edward State Park showcases exceptional ingenuity in architectural renovation. Transforming a neglected 1931 landmark into The Lodge at St. Edward Park, a boutique hotel and conference center, required meticulous craftsmanship to preserve its historic integrity while introducing modern functionality.

Preservation highlights include restoration of intricate exterior masonry, a terrazzo central staircase, and the Spanish tile roof, which was salvaged, reinstalled, and reinforced with a new membrane. The dining hall was reimagined with historically accurate, laser-cut tile flooring and updated systems, seamlessly blending old and new.

Modern additions, such as a below-grade parking garage and sustainable features like rain gardens, low-flow plumbing, and energy-efficient heating systems, were integrated without compromising the building’s historic character. Fully compliant with the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation, this award-winning project earned Federal Historic Tax Credits and a MICHELIN Guide One Key Hotel designation in 2024.
